Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep with turn. Slightly unresponsive nose. Pleasant creamy fruit (amarena/plum), good structure, easy-drinking Sangiovese. Develops with air, so I’d guess it will improve significantly with bottle age. Drink from 2017. 15.5
Bruno Besa: Garnet to orange, pink rim. Smoky, open nose with small black fruits, minerals, and cedarwood. Beautifully balanced palate, with firm tannins, sweet layered black and red fruit, and a long, lively, and complex finish. Needs time on the nose, but the palate tells me this is going to age gracefully for years to come. 18.5
Andrew Jefford: Dark, limpid black-red. Earthy, warm, resonant, and enticing. There is oak qualifying the fruit here, but gosh it’s well done, since it takes you off to the landscape of origin, albeit on silky wings. A lovely Brunello nose. On the palate, this is a very finely crafted, very graceful Brunello from this wonderfully ripe vintage: smooth yet firm, ripe yet fresh, primary yet allusive, too. Another lovely ripe rendition of vineyard and forest, of stone and slope. Supremely easy to drink, yet having swallowed, you will see the seriousness and sobriety hidden in the smooth, subtle tannins. Outstanding. 18
