Nicolas Belfrage | Medium with garnet through into heart. Complex nose of herbs, mulled and spicy. Complexity also on palate, acid firm and even slightly volatile, but on the positive side of that; a bit “farmyard.” Tannins ripe but present, will help it on its way. Very good Brunello, recommended to lovers of the older style. Drink from 2024. | 96
Bruno Besa | Deep ruby to pink. Open, intense, very elegant, mineral, small red fruits nose, with rose water, mature peaches, and crushed stones. Medium body, a touch compacted on the mid-palate, yet clean with spicy, complex finish. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Mid to deep cherry-plum red; translucent. There’s plenty of sweet, fresh cherry on the nose of this charmer, too. Light, graceful, almost silky on the palate, with slender but ripe fruit, vivacious acidity, and aromatic finesse, too. You get the feeling that someone has worked very hard with the raw materials here, and the wine is an admirable representative of its vintage: pure and singing. But as always with 2013, I wouldn’t keep it too long. | 88
