Simon Larkin : Deeper appearance than the 1997. The aromatics are restrained, yet reveal dense, deep fruit with a scented quality. Richer, more powerful - there is a freshness here that is absent from the 1997. Strong tannic grip and a tight frame - real structure. Quite assertive as a style, with well-presented, vibrant cherry fruit, free from overt oak influence. Deserving of patience. 17
Nicolas Belfrage: Much steadier on the nose, with fruit, flower and incense showing through. Nice balance of fruit and structure, clean lines, enjoyable now, though will benefit from two to four years in bottle, then another. Concentration a touch lacking. 15
