AR | This is a very deep youthful ruby in colour, and, at first nosing, there's the unmistakeable whiff of classy (after the watershed, I think we can say sexy) French barrique oak, with all the sandalwood spice and vanilla that it brings, the only question being: is it in balance or is it too much for the fruit? And? No. it's not too much for the fruit because that dark cherry in itself is richly concentrated and opulent, the oak spice brilliantly complementing the fruit to produce a classic and classy Brunello that's only just getting into its stride. I've been waiting a while to say this is the business, but this is the business. Drink Dates: 2025 - 2040. 95
MP | The hallmark of this wine is the herbaceous note of tomato leaf, cut grass and red apple that doesn't seem to have a resemblance to Brunello. The acidity is very high suggesting a more northern sub-zone and the tannins are very fine. Although this is as elegant as Brunello can get it doesn't showcase the power and intensity that the DOCG should have. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2032. 92
