Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Fresh, vibrant, if currently understated, notes on the nose. A big mouthful of creamy wild-cherry fruit on the palate, acids in place but tannins a little gritty. Needs a couple of years. Drink from 2018. 90

Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny. Closed nose with mature black fruit. A touch green in its tannin, yet layered and fairly long. 86

Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red. Dry, sinewy, refined, planty aromas: red fruits, sap, and moist licorice. On the palate, there is plenty of depth and drive; earthy, long, vivid, and amply extractive, with a stern though resonantly ripe tannic profile. Absolutely magnificent vineyard work here, and with a little more aromatic finesse, this would be a clear winner. A super wine with a huge amount both of pleasure and of classical asperity in here. 94
