Simon Field | Deep ruby, softer on the rim. A nose of myrtle, charcuterie, and the carpenter’s workshop, just before he starts to work. The wine operates on the senses in manifold ways, flowers, fruit, oak, and acidity all having their say. The faintest hint of surmaturité underwrites the ensemble, thereby sowing doubt over the long-term future. In the medium term, all looks set fair. | 87
Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark black-red. Plum, lime, tangerine peel, and some oak—an attractive mix, though just a little raw in terms of assembly. Powerful and almost sweet-fruited on the palate, with mouth-filling fruits and ample textures; soft acidity. Lots of weight here but not a brutal wine in any way. A saline finish, too. | 90
Anthony Rose | This is attractively hued, just starting to show a degree of evolution. There’s some up- front spicy oak and sweetness of aroma, and the same attributes follow through in the taste, which is full-flavored and nicely textured. Just pulled up a tad short, perhaps by some fairly chunky dry tannins on the finish. | 89
