Andrew Jefford: Deep garnet-red; a darker hue than any of the 2017s we looked at, though not as deep as the 2018s. Lovely scents: now-mature fruit, in which the raspberry is mingled with chocolate and humus odors to enticing effect. Moderately forthcoming but subtle; rewards close scrutiny. Excellent on the palate, too: beautifully shapely, fresh fruits perfectly teased to ripeness; with soft and comely tannins and focus-bringing though ripe, fruit-drenched acidity. We have raspberry as well as redcurrant, and there are beginning to be some secondary complexities on the palate as well as on the aromas. Hard to fault this, though it doesn’t have the exceptional ripeness of the best 2018s; classicists may prefer this vintage of course. Lovely Sancerre red. | 92
Jasper Morris: Pure, fresh, mid-purple color. This wine has a most delicious bouquet, very gracefully perfumed, in a fresh raspberry register. It is not trying to be anything it is not, yet is performing what it actually is perfectly. And the flavors grow on the nose with time in the glass. There is more detail here, too, commendable weight of fruit, very well-integrated oak, and just the right balance of acidity at the back. Bravo! Worth seeking out. | 91
Catherine Petrie: A brilliant, vibrant ruby. An intense, complex nose, with precise raspberry fruit and a subtle, floral delicacy that belies the wine’s quiet but persuasive power. The tannins show a sophisticated structure: ripe but subtly structural, with an appealing, salty freshness. The palate finishes long and well-balanced. This could certainly impress with a few more years to develop. | 91
