BUY THE WINE

Nicolas Belfrage: Very deep. Balsam and graphite on nose. Some odd fruit like kumquat, interesting. Chunky fruit with reasonable acid and firm ripe tannin backdrop, more prosaic than poetic, but good. Drink 2012 for 10 years. 15

Roy Richards Muddy and imprecise, perhaps oxidative. This is deceptive, as the palate is spot on for a good traditional Brunello. Satisfying, but a little more natural acidity would have lifted the performance. Needs decanting. 15

Franco Ziliani: Vegetal, unripe nose with oak and toasted notes. The palate is very dull, tired, with no balance and freshness and an absurd excess of oak, not appealing at all. 11.5
