Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth, garnet rim. Well-established herb, almost spice nose, with fruit behind. Wine of good structure with chunky plum and cherry fruit, adequate but slightly detached acidity, medium length. Typical Brunello of this vintage; plenty of stoffa but no great grace. 15
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny. Broad, mature, blackfruit nose, with smoke, prunes, and dried meat. Full body with sweet fruit. Touch-simple finish. 15
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. I think if I were to be assessing this wine in 100 percent blind conditions, I would guess it was older than 2009; the aromatic evolution has moved swiftly through to the stage of autumnal complexities (though the color is every bit as youthful as its peers). The fruits seem very ripe. On the palate, it is concentrated, long, and almost thrusting, orchestrated very much around the fruit qualities, which are ringing, resonant, and concentrated. There is a little more tannin than in many, though it’s soft and unabrupt. Another very good wine. 15
