Nicolas Belfrage: Quite deep, with a touch of turn. A blast of amarena cherry on the nose, plus herbs and spices. A mouthful of fruit, almost jammy were it not for the firm tannins and adequate juicy acids. Milk chocolate, cherry, and herb all persist on the finish. Drinking now but will age well. 18
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to pink, tawny rim. Intense, layered, complex yet restrained nose, with black and red fruits, graphite, cedar wood, rosemary, and smoked meats. A wonderfully balanced palate, with mature fruit and dusty tannins, well supported by the pristine acidity. A great Brunello from a great vintage. 19
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. Sweet, warm, spicy red fruits, a marked animal presence. Lush, soft, spicy, densely tannic, and again with that animal warmth: a very serious, concentrated example, endowed with magnificent tannins and a pounding fruit core. The aromatic animal note is all that holds the wine back from a very high score—but you might like that, in which case this is an outstanding Brunello. 16.5
