Jesús Barquín:The first impression on the nose is one of seriousness, harmonizing a plethora of aromas (licorice, menthol, undergrowth, peppercorn). The palate echoes this attractive palate—from the attack, to the very long finish. Of formidable structure and good acidity, and unexpected balance of tannin and alcohol for the wine’s young age. 18
Richard Mayson:Good, deep, opaque color; open, fragrant touch of wood? On the nose, quite rich and fleshy initially, but the tannins are hard and lean, and somehow the wine tastes hollow, lacking a middle. Correct, fresh at this stage but not going very far, I fear. Loose-knit. 12.5
Charles Metcalfe:Dark, dried fruit characters. Very dense, dark, chocolaty flavors, more dried fruit than fresh. But acidity is very good, and tannins are very firm but ripe. Big, rich wine, impressive now and will develop well over medium and long term. Lots of power and intensity, with good freshness. 18
